Stay Fresh When Travelling

Are you a hand luggage only traveller or is everything but the kitchen sink more your style? Do you take matching Louis Vuitton or will your rucksack last one more flight? Packing for holidays or business travels has always been a challenge but Government restrictions on toiletries don't need to dry out your skin mid flight. Reflections has all your skin care needs covered from take off until you're back home again.

If you're flying long-haul, there is no reason why you can't cleanse your face thoroughly from the comfort of your seat. Dermalogica's UltraCalming Cleanser (Dermalogica) comes in a handy 50ml travel size and as it can be used without water, it is ideal for use when travelling. Just massage into the skin and then remove with tissue before applying your hydrating products.

The low humidity on a plane causes essential moisture to be sapped from the skin. Guard against dehydration with Skin Hydrating Booster (Dermalogica) which contains hyaluronic acid which holds 1,000 times its own weight in water, ensuring that your skin remains supple and hydrated and a silicone based moisturising gel such as Barrier Repair which will form a barrier against moisture loss.

Whether in-flight or after a day admiring the sights, skin is parched. For instant rejeuvenation, apply MultiVitamin Power Concentrate (Dermalogica), with its cocktails of vitamins, including A, C and E and the very healing panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and essential fatty acids. Just one application will see skin looking soft, supple and radiating good health.

Another excellent option is the Skin Hydrating Mask (Dermalogica) which can be left on during the flight to rehydrate the skin. hs product can also be left on overnight. Apply a thin layer only.

Hot temperatures and air conditioning cause your skin to dry out as moisture moves through osmosis from the area of greatest concentration to the lowest. A spritz toner like Antioxidant Hydration or Multi Active Toner (Dermalogica) can transform this and it can be used over make up too. Look for humectants such as glycerol and honey which bind vital water to the skin for a fresh face all day long. Follow this with a moisturiser to seal in moisture and act as a barrier to keep pollutants out. Look for age fighting ingredients such as anti-oxidants which fight free radical damage and skin stregthening and firming ingredients including magnesium ascorbyl phosphate which help improve the appearance of the skin.

Daily sun protection is essential every day of the year but particularly when spending time in direct sunlight. Apply your sunscreen to a non-perspiring body at least 20 minutes prior to sun exposure, enabling it to penetrate the skin. Apply generously using approximately one teaspoon for the face and about a fifty cent piece amount per limb. Look for a total sunblock of SPF15 which blocks 93.33% of UVB rays or an SPF30 which blocks 96.6% and always reapply throughout the day. Key ingredients to look out for are anti-oxidants including green team grape seed, licquorice and ginkgo biloba and anti-inflammatories such as green tea, lavender and aloe to soothe red inflamed skin.

On the flight back, repeat your cleansing and hydrating routine to ensure your skin is healthy and continues to glow long after the photos have been developed. If you follow these tips, your skin will change forever.

Happy travelling..
